The Hong Kong Polytechnic University Jockey Club Auditorium | Hong Kong Red Cross 75th Anniversary Drama"The Eighth Principle"

Description
In the bustling city, a group of chilling Red Cross Youth Members were moved by their leader's passion, carved out time to volunteer services and created "Life Story Recollections" for the elderly. This time, their interviewee is the leader's grandfather—an elder who had weathered life's storms yet carried a heart full of love.
As a child, the grandfather survived a devastating fire in a squatter area, which planted in him an early desire to help others. However, life's hardships prevented him from realising this dream, so he passed it on to his son, Lik-hung. Living up to his father's hopes, Lik-hung became a doctor. After witnessing the tragedies of the Lan Kwai Fong stampede incident, SARS, and COVID-19, he resolutely embarked on a path of frontline rescue missions in war zones, seeking the true essence of humanitarianism on the edge of life and death.
Through listening and companionship, the young volunteers touched upon the resilience of humanity in the face of suffering. Apart from the Red Cross's Seven Fundamental Principles— "Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity, and Universality"—they discovered a hidden "Eighth Principle": a belief that transcends generations, races, and adversities, a silent promise that illuminates the darkness.
This is a journey of legacy, courage, and awakening. We invite you to witness the promise that "When there is human suffering, there is the Red Cross". Hong Kong Red Cross's 75th Anniversary Drama —"The Eighth Principle".
First-Ever Collaboration - The Hong Kong Red Cross and the Hong Kong Repertory Theatre join forces to present a brand-new drama mobilising over hundred participants, including professional actors alongside members of Hong Kong Red Cross Youth Unit and volunteers, bringing Hong Kong's humanitarian stories to the stage.
